# Friendly names for IDs

> How to map friendly names to the advertiser, campaign, placement and other IDs passed in your Pixalate Analytics tag. CSV format, email subject line format, ad server and dimension codes.

Your Pixalate tags pass ad-serving IDs (advertiser, campaign, placement and so on), and Analytics reports show those IDs. With friendly name mapping, reports show a readable name alongside each ID.

You set it up by sending Pixalate a CSV file. You need one file per client ID, ad server and dimension.

## 1. Create the CSV

Create a spreadsheet with two columns and save it in CSV format:

* The first row is the header: `id,name`. The header is case-sensitive.
* Column 1 is the ID as passed in your tag.
* Column 2 is the name to show for that ID.

The file name can be anything valid. For example, `advertisers.csv`:

```csv
id,name
10001,Example Advertiser One
10002,Example Advertiser Two
10003,Example Advertiser Three
```

## 2. Build the email subject line

The subject line tells Pixalate which client, ad server and dimension the file applies to. Separate the three values with `#`:

```text
<clientId>#<adserver>#<dimension>
```

| Part | What it is | Where to find it |
| ----------- | -------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `clientId` | Your Pixalate client ID | In your Analytics tag: the `clid=` value in 1x1 pixel tags, or the value after `#` in JavaScript tags (`cb=[cb]#[CLIENT_ID]`) |
| `adserver` | The ad server or platform that serves the ad | In your Analytics tag: the `paid=` value |
| `dimension` | The Pixalate dimension the IDs belong to | See the table below |

Common `adserver` values:

| Value    | Ad server                     |
| -------- | ----------------------------- |
| `dcm`    | Google Campaign Manager (DCM) |
| `dfp`    | Google Ad Manager (DFP)       |
| `apn`    | AppNexus                      |
| `adroll` | AdRoll                        |

If you're not sure of your `paid=` value, check your tag or ask [support@pixalate.com](mailto:support@pixalate.com).

`dimension` values:

| Value          | Dimension                  |
| -------------- | -------------------------- |
| `advertiserId` | Advertiser identifier      |
| `campaignId`   | Campaign identifier        |
| `lineItemId`   | Line item identifier       |
| `placementId`  | Placement identifier       |
| `publisherId`  | Publisher identifier       |
| `creativeId`   | Creative identifier        |
| `orderId`      | Insertion order identifier |
| `siteId`       | Site identifier            |
| `sellerId`     | Seller identifier          |

For example:

| To map                                    | Subject line          |
| ----------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| AppNexus advertiser IDs for client `ks`   | `ks#apn#advertiserId` |
| Campaign Manager site IDs for client `lt` | `lt#dcm#siteId`       |

For more on the tag parameters, see [The Pixalate tag and macros](/analytics/tag-and-macros).

## 3. Send the file

Attach the CSV to an email with that subject line and send it to [support@pixalate.com](mailto:support@pixalate.com). Copy your Pixalate account manager, so they can help if there's a problem processing the file.

The names appear in the dashboard with the next data refresh, in about 6 hours.
