Pixalate FAQ

Answers to general questions about Pixalate, its data, accreditation and support.

This page answers questions about Pixalate as a company. For questions about a specific product, see Product FAQs.

About Pixalate

Pixalate is a fraud protection, privacy and compliance analytics platform for Connected TV (CTV), mobile apps and websites. Pixalate’s view is that the quality of an ad transaction has to be assessed across many signals, not only whether the ad was viewable: a viewable ad served to a bot or a hijacked device isn’t a quality impression. See Welcome to Pixalate for the products.

Customers across the advertising ecosystem, including agencies, demand-side platforms (DSPs), supply-side platforms (SSPs) and publishers.

Data and privacy

In the cloud, with SOC 2 compliant third parties.

Pixalate has a formal data retention policy that follows relevant industry guidance (the MRC Minimum Standards). It’s assessed every year as part of Pixalate’s MRC accreditation audit.

Pixalate’s 1x1 pixel can provide details such as IP address, user agent and cookie headers. Pixalate’s algorithms analyze these data points for outliers and abnormal behavior to help identify invalid traffic (IVT).

Yes, for data such as user agent information and device identification.

Yes. Pixalate runs general web crawlers. They aren’t related to the 1x1 pixel used for ad measurement.

By default, Pixalate’s detection uses data from across all the traffic it sees, which makes it more effective for every client. Your data can be kept separate (siloed) instead, but that reduces effectiveness and changes pricing. For pre-bid blocking without contributing post-bid data, you rely on data from other clients. Ask your Pixalate account manager about the options for your agreement.

Yes.

Accreditation and certification

Yes. Pixalate’s Analytics platform is accredited by the Media Rating Council (MRC). For what the accreditation covers, see MRC accreditation, MRC-accredited metrics and MRC-accredited measurement areas.

Yes. Pixalate takes part in the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG) Anti-Fraud Working Group and maintains the TAG Certified Against Fraud (CAF) seal.

Yes. Clients can use Pixalate toward compliance with TAG’s Certified Against Fraud program, including solutions for the program’s data center and mobile app requirements. If you need it, Pixalate can give TAG a letter of reference that states which Pixalate products you subscribe to. You attest to how widely you use them across the live production environments in scope for the program.

Onboarding and support

Email support@pixalate.com, or contact your Pixalate account manager. See Get support.

Response times depend on the support level in your agreement. Some reviews, such as those that need Pixalate’s data science team, are scoped and timed separately. Ask your account manager about your support level.

Pixalate has a formal onboarding process that covers initial training, platform setup and integration. Each client is assigned a Customer Success manager and gets ongoing training.

Yes. Each user who has permission to use a Pixalate platform gets their own sign-in. See Sign in and manage your account.

Send a request with as much detail as you can, such as IP address, device ID, app and timestamps. See If you think a traffic result is wrong.
