FAQ and troubleshooting

Fixes for common Pixalate MCP sign-in, access and results problems.

For setup steps, see the guides for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants. For how access and limits work, see Access and limits.

My sign in did not work

Check three things:

  • Your Pixalate account. It has to be active.
  • The sign-in page timed out. If you left it open a long time before finishing, close it and start the sign-in again from your assistant.
  • A leftover credential. If you want browser sign-in but your assistant’s settings for Pixalate include an API key, a token or an Authorization header, remove it. When a key is present, the server uses it and never starts the browser sign-in.

Which assistants work with this?

Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in. Other AI assistants lists the ones we know about, with a link to each vendor’s setup instructions. Assistants that only run local MCP servers can’t connect.

If yours supports remote MCP servers and isn’t listed, it will likely work. Tell support@pixalate.com and we’ll look at adding it.

I connected but I see no Pixalate tools

Check your assistant first:

  • Is Pixalate switched on for this chat? Some assistants, such as Claude, turn connectors on per conversation. In ChatGPT, select Pixalate with @.
  • Are you in agent mode? Some assistants, such as GitHub Copilot, only offer MCP tools in agent mode.

If both are fine and the list is still empty, your sign-in worked but your account doesn’t have access to any Pixalate MCP tools yet. Contact your Pixalate account manager and say which product you need. Access is part of your Pixalate agreement; there’s no self-serve sign-up.

I can see one product but not another

Access is enabled per product, so your account has some of it but not all. Ask your Pixalate account manager for the specific product you’re missing, for example Analytics MCP or Enrichment MCP.

It stopped working and is asking me to sign in again

That’s expected. Sign-in expires from time to time, and your assistant prompts you to sign in again. Nothing is wrong.

Why does my assistant say a report does not exist

Reports differ between accounts. Ask “What Pixalate reports can I run?” so your assistant lists the reports your account has, then use one of those. If a report you expect isn’t listed, ask your account manager.

How far back does the data go

Each analytics query can cover up to 60 days, counting both the start and end dates. For a longer period, ask your assistant to split it into parts of 60 days or fewer and combine the results. If you need to know how much history your account can query, ask your Pixalate account manager.

Why did I only get some of my rows?

Inline results come one page at a time: 40 rows unless you ask for more, and up to 100 per page. Compare the rows you got with numFound, the total. Ask for the next page, or for more rows per page.

To get every row at once, ask for an export. It’s a CSV of the full result set with no page limit.

My report says it is still running

Large reports run in the background. If a report isn’t done when the query returns, your assistant gets status: "IN_PROGRESS" and a request ID, and collects the result a little later. That’s normal. If the request ID has expired by then, run the query again. See analytics_status.

My export has fewer columns than I expected

Columns your account isn’t entitled to are removed before the report runs, so an export has only the columns your account can see. The response lists any default columns it left out in truncated_columns. If a column you expect is missing, ask your account manager about your access.

Wait a few seconds and open the link again. If it still fails, ask your assistant to run the export again. If that fails too, email support@pixalate.com with the trace ID.

I am being rate limited

The Pixalate MCP server doesn’t set its own request limit, but the Pixalate services behind it can ask you to slow down. Two different messages can stop a request:

  • Throttling (“Too many analytics requests at once”, or too many reports already running). It clears on its own. Wait a few seconds and try again. Most assistants retry by themselves.
  • Quota (“Your account’s analytics report quota is exhausted”). Waiting a few seconds doesn’t clear it. Contact your account manager about your allowance.

If throttling keeps happening, check whether your assistant is asking about a long list of items one at a time. For MRT enrichment, ask for up to 50 IDs in one request. See Access and limits.

Can I query another client’s data

No. Queries run with your own account’s credentials, and there’s no client ID to pass.

My numbers do not match the dashboard

Check the date range, the time zone and the filters first. A different window is the usual cause. If they still differ, email support@pixalate.com with the report, the dates, both numbers and the trace ID. Don’t try to reconcile them yourself by exporting and recalculating; that hides the difference instead of resolving it.

Something is wrong and none of this covers it

Email support@pixalate.com with:

  • the question you asked,
  • what came back,
  • the date range or IDs involved, and
  • the trace_id from the response, if your assistant shows it. It lets support find the exact call.
